C. J. Gardens Designs

Testimonials

Garden in Birchgrove, Cardiff   "My garden was a jungle, and I decided that I needed help. I chose a designer as a first option, who could then recommend a good landscaper. Caroline was an excellent choice. The process was a pleasure from start to finish. She began by understanding what I wanted from the garden and ended by producing a fantastic and innovative design.
Caroline brought in Broxton and Moruzzi to do the landscaping who were also a pleasure to work with. They were extremely professional, taking time and effort to do the job properly, rather than taking shortcuts. All the work; paving, brickwork and woodwork, soil preparation, was done to a very high standard.
Caroline not only oversaw the landscaping, but was also available for whatever else I needed to produce the garden. I had her put together a planting scheme, source the plants and plant them, but I felt comfortable enough to do any of those things myself, had I wanted to.
I can now sit at my desk and enjoy a wonderful garden. I love the result." David Holmes, Cardiff

"Replanting Existing Borders – Absolutely delighted with the end result!
I
found Caroline by accident whilst searching on the web one day.   I was worried that by using a Garden Designer that the whole border would have to be replaced. This simply wasn't the case.  Caroline has enhanced my herbaceous border. At our first meeting she so understood my brief and I knew that I would enjoy working with her. I like that fact that she uses computer drawings as opposed to painted pictures, which so many other garden designers tend to do by way of illustration.  As she is so computer literate she completes her designs in the minimum of time and they clearly convey how the finished product will look.  She has a wide knowledge of plants and shrubs and instils complete confidence and calm.

I really enjoyed having her 'Alan Titchmarsh' Team on site! It was a fun couple of days and I have already learned so much from Caroline.  What I really like is that she doesn't just walk away from the job, she sends you maintenance sheets to look after your new garden.   My husband and I absolutely love what she has done for us.

I'm saving so that I can invite Caroline and the team back next year to complete another project!" Jean, Port Talbot

Garden in Bro Radyr, Cardiff "The back of our new home was a mess, – soggy grass, a border overgrown with weeds, and slippery decking. Caroline helped us turn it into our ideal garden – and we couldn't have done it without her. Her design combined our vague ideas for a mix of large borders, lawn and sitting areas with our ambition for at least some space to start growing our own food. Through a clever mix of planting, patios, paths and an arch, we now have both a relaxing and beautiful garden and a working fruit and veg plot, all the while maintaining the feel of a large open space.

Caroline provided all the support we needed, from the design stage to recommending the excellent landscapers, Broxton and Moruzzi, and on to planting. At every stage, our ideas were listened to and worked into the design and the planting plan.

Many thanks Caroline - we're really happy with how it's turned out and are looking forward to watching it all grow."

Small garden in Penarth overlooking Cardiff Bay "Many thanks for all your help in designing our garden.  It was invaluable to have your advice on what was going to be possible.  Your detailed plan certainly meant that the landscapers were able to deliver exactly what we had envisaged and we are absolutely delighted with the result.  Your service was helpful and efficient"
Susan and Andrew Sutherland, Penarth

Courtyard garden in Pontcanna : "I had never considered employing a garden designer as it's something I thought you'd do if you own a stately home. I have a small NE facing town garden which had the standard rectangle of unkempt lawn, overgrown flower beds, a grey path and a tatty shed. When we installed folding windows that opened up the rear of the house to the garden something had to be done to improve the outlook.

C.J. Garden Designs have transformed a scruffy and boring Victorian walled garden into an architectural haven of beauty and peace. During the first visit Caroline showed me dozens of photos of different types of planting and landscaping to demonstrate what could be achieved in a small yard. I opted for decorative paving and raised beds planted out with a mix of cottage garden flowers and architectural plants. Detailed drawings were produced to show the hard landscaping and the planting plan so we could envisage the final product. We used the CJ Design planting service because we're not confident gardeners.

I'm delighted with the result. The garden is now full of colour, light and interest every day of the year. It's easy to maintain so what was formerly a worry and a chore has become an enjoyable pastime. This is one of the best investments I've ever made.
Annie Mulholland, Pontcanna, Cardiff

Front and back re-design, build and planting. "Thank you so much for the excellent work on our garden. From the moment we discussed designs I knew we would not be looking any further. Being able to view the plans in 3D gave us a real feel for what the finished result would be and made the choice much easier. Your good knowledge of plants (and subsequent planting!) was very helpful as well. The design is just what I wanted (you interpreted my vague ideas brilliantly!) and we are absolutely delighted with the overall result! Thank you also for recommending Broxton & Moruzzi landscaping to implement the plans – they did an excellent job! "
